Wilson, NC – The Wilson Tobs (26-16) used a seven-run first inning to fuel a 14-4 mercy-rule victory over the High-Point Thomasville Hi-Toms (17-25) on Sunday Night.

Wilson attacked early, thanks to a two-run double from Chase Waddell to get the Tobs on the board. The Tobs sent 12 hitters to the plate in the first inning, scoring seven runs and taking a commanding lead.

The offense added a run in the 4th and scored three runs in the 6th and the 7th to clinch the mercy-rule win. Bussey had three hits and three runs knocked in from the leadoff spot and Waddell poured in a four hit effort himself. Both Jakhari Howard and Matthew Williams reached base four times each without ever lifting the bat off their shoulders.

On the mound, newcomer Zach Robinson from UMBC got the start and allowed four runs and struck out three in three innings of work. Elliot Veisauyadra and Dylan Maire handled the rest of the game, delivering four shutout frames with seven strikeouts.

The Tobacconists are back at Fleming Stadium to face the Tri-City Chili Peppers for the last $2 Tuesday of the season. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00pm. There are just three home games left so make sure to show up for your Tobs!
