FLORENCE, S.C. – Despite Patrick Fultz’s 3-for-4 night and Sammy Sass’ big-time RBI single, the Wilson Tobs (10-5) dropped their second consecutive contest in a 5-4 loss to the Florence Flamingos (6-10) in 10 innings at Carolina Bank Field on Wednesday evening.
Leading 3-0, Wilson would go on to surrender three unanswered runs to tie the game in the seventh. And heading into extras, the Tobs took a 4-3 lead on the Sass go-ahead single. Two errors and a walk-off single by Florence’s Reid Brown in the bottom half of the inning would then be the nail in the coffin to take down the Tobs in walk-off fashion, with it serving as Wilson’s fifth loss of the 2023 campaign.
Up next for the Tobs, a meeting with the Morehead City Marlins at Historic Fleming Stadium on Thursday evening for the season’s fourth edition of Thirsty Thursday. First pitch is at 7:00 p.m. ET.
