WILSON, N.C. – For one final time at Fleming Stadium in 2024, the Wilson Tobs welcomed in the Greenville Yard Gnomes for the 2024 CPL season finale.

In a back-and-forth affair, it was the Tobs coming away with the season finale win over the Yard Gnomes by a score of 5-4.

It didn’t take long for the Tobs to crack the scoreboard in the contest, as Mackenzie Wainwright drove in Jack Kail in the bottom of the first to give the Tobs an early 1-0 lead.

Wilson would continue to add to its lead throughout the ensuing innings, plating a singular run in both the second and the third inning en route to taking a quick 3-0 lead.

In the top of the fifth inning, the Yard Gnomes finally found their answer.

Greenville posted a quick four runs in the top of the fifth to overtake the lead down the back half of the game game.

The Tobs would go on to tie the game at four in the sixth after Jerry Barnes’ sacrifice fly, before taking the lead the very next inning.

In the seventh, it was an RBI base hit from Chase Waddell that scored Jared Beebe to give the Tobs a slight 5-4 lead.

Turning to Ben Sieracki for a clean eighth inning, Brett Anderson got the ball in the ninth to close things out for Wilson.

In the ninth frame, Anderson worked a swift 1-2-3 inning, shutting the door on the Yard Gnomes en route to his second save of the CPL season.

With the season finale win over Greenville, Wilson closes out the 2024 summer season on a high note, despite just missing out on the playoffs.

For now, Wilson will await the summer of 2025, when the Tobs will be back in action inside of Fleming Stadium for another season in the CPL.
