WILSON, N.C. – Led by Shane Rademacher’s five innings of one-run ball and Scott Mackiewicz’s 2-for-3 day at the plate, the Wilson Tobs (18-12, 4-2) picked up a big-time 6-4 victory over the Morehead City Marlins (20-13, 4-5) on Thursday evening at Historic Fleming Stadium.
The win marked Wilson’s fifth in six tries against Morehead City this season, and moved it into a two-way tie for first in the Coastal Plain League East Division.
The scoring started early on for the Tobs. Back-to-back two-out singles off the bats of Connor Price and Chase Waddell made it a 3-0 ballgame, and after another three-spot in the home half of the second, Wilson led 6-0 in the blink of an eye.
Although the Marlins would slowly creep back into the game with a run in the fifth, two runs in the eighth and another run on a Nate Anderson solo home run in the ninth, that’s all they would get from there.
Ryan Corbett slammed the door to pick up his first save of the 2023, closing out the two-run victory on Wilson on Thursday.
Next up for the Tobs, a trip to War Memorial Stadium to face off against the Peninsula Pilots on Friday evening at War Memorial Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET.
