Wilson, N.C. – The Tobs have won three in-a-row, thanks to a rain shortened thriller over the Peninsula Pilots at Historic Fleming Stadium on Thursday night.

The Tobbacconists used a massive 7-run rally in the 5th to take a 7-6 lead over the Peninsula Pilots (10-5). It took 13 batters and nearly 60 pitches – but the Tobs used three hits, six walks, a hit batsman and a SAC Fly to take their first lead of the ballgame.

Moments after the third out, as Josh Wise was warming up to start the 6th inning, a whopping storm rolled in to Wilson (10-6) and wiped out the game.

It was all Peninsula for the first four innings. Four runs in the third and two in the fourth gave the Pilots – the top team in the CPL – a sturdy lead. Carlos Peña hit his CPL leading 9th home run in the fourth, a two-run shot to extend the Pilot’s advantage to 6-0.

Zac Martin (1-0) pitched a scoreless fifth inning to earn the win.

The Tobs are on the road Friday (at Peninsula) and Saturday (at Greenville) before coming home on Sundae Funday to take on the Boone Bigfoots. It’ll be a TaterHog game as well as Homerun 4 Hunger – if you bring four nonperishable food goods, you will receive free admission to the game.
