On the heels of a double-header sweep over Morehead City, the Tobs were back in action on Wednesday night. A 14-7 victory over the Marlins — again — makes it three in a row for the Tobs.

A rocky start saw the Tobs (7-3) down 3-0 early, but the offense answered in a big way.

Jack Kail got Wilson on the board with a two-run single. Columbia’s own had a strong night at plate, 2-5 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

RBI doubles from Chase Waddell, Kasten Harvey and Matt Williams helped pace a Tobs offense that put up a season-high 14 runs.

Jason Fink got the start and settled in nicely after allowing three runs in the first frame. A three-run homer from Wyatt Stanley in 5th gave the Marlins (4-5) a 6-5 lead — ending Fink’s outing — followed by a solo shot from Jaden Gustafson off of Carson Everette.

From then on, it was all Tobs as they put up eight unanswered runs.

Nathan Leininger (1-0) delivered 2.1 innings of scoreless relief and Matt Mariano finished the game out for Wilson.

Wilson plays Thursday against Wilmington at 7:00 p.m. It’ll be the second Taterhogs game of the season and it’s Thirsty Thursday and Education Appreciation Night at Historic Fleming Stadium.
