Tobs Roll with New AGM
The Wilson Tobs are happy to announce that Drew MacKinnon, the Director of Operations & Groups Sales, will be stepping into a new role as the Assistant General Manager for the ball club. When asked about his new promotion, Drew had this to say, “I am extremely appreciative and grateful that the Tobs have the faith in me to get the job done. I am excited to get going and will do my best to further the organization and community in my new position.”
Drew, originally from the Baltimore, Maryland area, is entering his third season with the team. He relocated to North Carolina for college at East Carolina University and has been in eastern North Carolina ever since. While a student at ECU, Drew worked for the football team as an equipment manager and found his passion for working in sports. Once obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Studies with a Minor in Business Administration, he came to Wilson for the summer of 2019 as an Operations & Event Management intern. After a year away from sports due to the pandemic, he returned to the Tobs in 2021 as the Director of Operations & Group Sales.
The Tobs have a strong commitment to the community of Wilson and strive to contribute the best that they can. With this new position comes new responsibilities, such as being the Chamber of Commerce and Gig360 representative for the Tobs. General Manager, Mike Bell, said this about his new AGM, “Drew is an extremely hard worker with a lot of versatility. He is able to pick up on anything quickly and run with it. Drew has a bright future in sports and we are very lucky to have him as part of the Tobs family”. With a new season just over the horizon, the Tobs and their new AGM are eager to get the ballpark back in gear.

The Wilson Tobs enter their 26th season as a founding member of the Coastal Plain League. The upcoming season for the Tobs will see community outreach, increased participation in helping the less fortunate, a Petitt Cup Championship team, and more exciting entertainment than ever before. We would like to dedicate each successful season to the Wilson Community, Coastal Plain League Organization, Host Families, Corporate Partners, and the Dedicated Fans.
The Wilson Tobs have played host to over 100 alumni taken in the MLB draft and have produced over a dozen players who have gone on to play in the MLB, including Cy Young MVP winner Justin Verlander.
