MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. – Led by a dominant six inning performance by right-hander Trent Harris and two early home runs off the bats of Patrick Fultz and Garrett Anglim, the Wilson Tobs (9-3) picked up their fourth consecutive victory with a big-time 4-1 win over the Morehead City Motorboaters (10-3) at Big Rock Stadium on Friday evening.

The victory snapped Morehead City’s nine-game winning streak, and moved Wilson into just half a game out of first place in the Coastal Plain League (CPL) East Division. Harris’ six scoreless frames earned him CPL Pitcher of the Night, and Reese Miller’s three innings out of the bullpen allowed him to pick up his third save of the 2023 campaign.

The Tobs struck early with a two-run first after both Fultz and Anglim’s solo shots, and they continued to add on with a Sammy Sass RBI single in the third, and a Jack Rothenhausler RBI base knock later on in the sixth to give Wilson a 4-0 advantage. It was a lead the Tobs wouldn’t give up the rest of the way, riding the three-run win to the team’s ninth victory of the season.

Wilson now looks to keep the train moving when it plays host to the Tri-City Chilli Peppers onSaturday evening at Historic Fleming Stadium. First pitch for Disney Night and Mascot Madness is set for 7:00 p.m. ET. Those still looking to purchase tickets can do so through showpass at wilsontobs.com.
