Wilson, N.C. – The Tobs remain undefeated at home as they walk it off against the Chili Peppers in the 9th.

In the bottom of the 9th, Thad Ector reached base on a double and was sent home by Kasten Harvey’s first hit of Coastal Plain League play. Harvey’s walk-off single sealed the ballgame 6-5 to keep the Tobs undefeated at Historic Fleming Stadium.

The Tri-City Chili Peppers (2-4) struck first with an RBI double from Zion Taylor and an RBI single from Keaton Ray in the 1st.

The Wilson Tobs (3-1) answered with a three-run home run from AJ Jones. The Mayor of Wilson drove home Charlie Bussey III and Chase Waddell who recorded a double & a walk, respectively.

Jones managed to get on base once again with a single and came home via a Jerry Barnes home run in the 4th in his return to Wilson. The Tobs took the lead 5-2.

Matthew Rivers started on the mound for the Tobacconists, going three innings and recording two strikeouts. Brian Yadlon, Tyler Barfield, Nathan Leininger, Zac Martin, Daegen Vinduska, Jacob Larkins, Eli Edds and Casey O’Dell came out of the bullpen.

A rocky 7th inning for the Tobs saw the Chili Peppers tie the game at 5-5, and they were threatening again in the 8th: enter the Ginger General.

Edds once again got the team out of a bases loaded situation in the 8th. O’Dell (1-0) took the win as he closed the 9th inning allowing only 1 hit and no runs.

The Tobs are back in action on June 5th against the Morehead City Marlins at 7:00pm for Teacher Appreciation night at Historic Fleming Stadium. School faculty and staff will receive free entry to the game. Tobs Roll!
