Wilson, N.C. – Wilson (16-10) makes it three wins in-a-row with a 14-4 drubbing of Holly Springs (11-12) in front of a packed crowd at Historic Fleming Stadium on Thursday.

 

It was a fireworks extravaganza in Wilson and the Tobs made sure the show got started early with a grand slam from Matthew Williams. Williams ended the day with two hits and six runs driven in.

 

Jack Kail had another strong night at the plate, netting three hits and driving in four runs as well as scoring three.

 

AJ Jones delivered the exclamation mark, a two-run jimmy to extend the Tobs lead to 10 – all the runs needed for a run-rule victory; the Tobs’ second such win this year.

 

Braxton Stewart (1-1) got the start and the win on the mound, going six innings with four strikeouts. Josh Wise closed out the seventh with just one hit allowed. The Salamanders were kept scoreless after the fourth.

 

The Tobacconists are on the road in Wilmington and Greenville on Friday & Saturday before the All-Star break. Wilson hosts the Yard Gnomes on Thursday, July 10 for Salute to Service. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. All service members and veterans get free admission to the game, which is also a Thirsty Thursday.
