MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. – Despite Elias Stevens’ 2-for-3 night and Rafe Perich’s two-run home run, the Wilson Tobs (23-17, 9-7) fell to the Morehead City Marlins (27-14, 11-6) by a final score of 7-6 on Wednesday evening at Big Rock Stadium in Morehead City.

The loss drops the Tobs to 5-3 this season against the Marlins, and to 2-3 against Morehead City at Big Rock Stadium.

With still an out yet to be recorded in the contest, Perich’s two-run shot gave Wilson the early 2-0 advantage, and after the Marlins immediately tied the game up, an Andrew Branson two-run single put the Tobs on top 4-2.

Flash forward to the top of the sixth, with the game knotted up at four, a Seth Gergely two-run triple once again put the Tobs up 6-4.

It wasn’t until the home half of the eighth when Morehead City jumped up in front. After McGwire Tuffy was hit by a pitch with the bases juiced, Dylan Rodgers came in to score to put the Marlins in the lead. It was a lead the Marlins wouldn’t relinquish, with the Tobs dropping their second straight in a 7-6 loss.

Next up for Wilson, another meeting with the Marlins on Thursday night at Historic Fleming Stadium for Paint The Park Pink Night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET. Those still looking to purchase tickets can do so through showpass at wilsontobs.com.
