MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. – Despite AJ Jones’ 3-for-4 night at the plate and Brett Anderson’s three scoreless frames, the Wilson Tobs (12-8) fell for the eighth time this season in a 6-2 loss to the Morehead City Marlins (14-6) on Wednesday evening at Big Rock Stadium.

The loss moves the Tobs to two games back of first place in the Coastal Plain League (CPL) East Division, with just four games remaining in the CPL First Half.

Right-hander Alex Bouchard took the loss on Wednesday night in the four-run defeat. The Lehigh product and Chalfont, Pa. native tossed two innings of five-run ball before exiting the contest, moving his record to 0-1 on the 2023 campaign.

Trailing 5-0 entering the third, a Sammy Sass RBI single proceeded to cut the deficit to four, but that’s all Wilson could really muster from there.

A Jones RBI base knock in the final frame made it a 6-2 ballgame, but it was too little too late.

The Tobs will now aim to bounce back on Thursday evening when they welcome in Morehead City for a 7:00 p.m. ET at Historic Fleming Stadium. Those still looking to purchase tickets can do so through showpass at wilsontobs.com.
