Wilson, N.C. – The Tobs stay undefeated at home with a 8-3 win over the reigning CPL champion Wilmington Sharks at History Fleming Stadium.

The Tobacconists struck first on Sundae Funday with a huge first inning as the first five batters for the Tobs reached and came around to score. Wilson was able to capitalize on two first-inning errors from the Sharks (4-5).

The Tobs (4-3) batted around in the first inning, scoring five runs off three hits. They brought their lead up to 7-0 thanks to a Chase Waddell RBI single in the 2nd and a sacrifice fly from Christian Michak in the 3rd. Michak drove home Logan Luckett, who made an amazing return from injury with a triple and a double.

Waddell, Luckett, Carter Murphy and Matthew Williams each had a pair of hits as the Tobs’ offense showed up strong.

Wilson used eight different pitchers on Sunday, striking out 12 and only allowing three unearned runs. Josh Wise (1-1) earned the win with two scoreless frames out of the bullpen. Dylan Van Meeteren got the start and struck out five, keeping his season ERA at a stellar 0.00 through his first three outings.

The Tobs host the Morehead City Marlins for a doubleheader on Tuesday. First pitch of game one is at 5:30 p.m., with the second game slated for about 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one. It’ll be a $2 Tuesday and Bark in the Park at Historic Fleming Stadium.
