Wilson celebrated Independence Day with a 15-4 shellacking of the Wilmington Sharks on Friday night.
The Tobs (17-10) have now won four in-a-row, including two straight run-rule victories, thanks to another massive offensive outburst. Wilson scored two in the first, and added eight runs in the second to start the onslaught. Matthew Williams drove in five runs, three on a 3-run homer in the 3rd – good for 11 RBI in just the past two days.
Jack Kail continued his hot streak, pouring in three hits (for the third game in-a-row) to take his season batting average up over .300 – when it sat at .243 less than a week ago.
Silas Jones got the start for Wilson and took home the win over the Sharks (12-14). The lefty tossed five innings, allowing three runs – only two earned – and struck out six.
The Tobacconists have one more game before the All-Star break, Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. in Greenville. The Tobs then host the Yard Gnomes on July 10th for Salute to Service night in their first game back after the ASG.
Catcher Chase Waddell, relief pitcher Casey O’Dell and outfielders Charlie Bussey and Carter Murphy will represent the Tobs at the All-Star game.
