HAMPTON, VA- Behind great pitching, The Wilson Tobs were able to grab their first win of the CPL season on the road last night at Peninsula. Starting pitcher Trent Harris, threw five scoreless innings, striking out four Pilots and only allowing two hits.

The offense came out in the top of the fourth for Wilson as Trey Paige and Matt Schark reached on back-to-back singles. It was Aaron Smigelski that drove in the first run of the game, followed by Ethan Ott crushing a ball over the left-center field wall. The Tobs would put four runs on the board in that frame.

Jake Curry, Jaren Washington, Mason Ornelas & Justin Koehler would each pitch one inning after the fifth inning trying to follow-up Harris shutout performance so far. In the top of the sixth the Tobs would load the bases but were only able to plate one run on the RBI HBP from Greg Delgado. Later in the next frame, another Tobs batter was walked in, making 6-0 in the seventh.
Peninsula would score one run in the ninth, but Koehler limited to the damage giving Wilson their first win of the season on the road by a final score of 6-1.

Wilson will return home on Thirsty Thursday on June 2nd to take on the Holly Springs Salamanders, tickets are still available at the box office or Showpass online. If you can not make it out to the ballpark, you can catch the action on Greenlight channel 2 or HD 900. Streaming of all the CPL’s games this year can also be found on flobaseball.tv
