WILSON, NC – On Thursday night inside of Fleming Stadium, the Wilson Tobs played host to the Tri-City Chili Peppers in a battle between two teams finding in the middle of the pack of the CPL’s East Division.

Despite rain in the forecast, mother nature held off, as the Tobs secured the 4-2 victory at home over the Chili Peppers, ending a recent 6-game skid for Wilson.

The starting pitchers for both teams started the game off strong, with the only damage early in the contest coming in the bottom of the second inning.

Tobs catcher Brayden White got a hold of a fastball in the Wilson half of the second inning and deposited it over the left field fence for a solo blast to put the Tobs up 1-0 early in the evening against the Chili Peppers.

Wilson would add three more runs of insurance to its lead in the home half of the fourth frame with a handful of singles to take a 4-0 into the fifth frame.

Pitching with the lead throughout the contest, Wilson starter Reese Miller was his usual dominant self against Tri-City. The Chili Peppers got to Miller for a singular run in the fifth – the run was unearned due to a Colby Ott error – the only damage done against Miller on the night.

Armed with a slight lead, Wilson native Jacob Dienes, Barton College lefty Tanner Halvorson and righty Hunter Dyck combined to close out the rest of the contest, securing the win for the Tobs.

Dyck, who tossed the ninth inning for Wilson, collected his second save of the season by inducing a game-ending double-play, putting the Tobs back in the win column.

With the win the Tobs improve to 21-15 on the season and 6-6 in the second half of the CPL season.

Wilson is back in action on Saturday, when the Tobs travel to Greenville to do battle with the Yard Gnomes at Guy Smith Stadium.

Catch the Tobs back at home on Sunday for Christmas in July, as Wilson hosts Wilmington at 6 p.m. ET.
