WILSON, N.C. – Tuesday night was 2-for-Tuesday inside of Historic Fleming Stadium, as the Wilson Tobs hosted the Holly Springs Salamanders. Looking to get back in the win column after a Sunday loss at the hands of the Chili Peppers, the Tobs bounced back securing the 6-1 win on Tuesday evening.
Throughout the contest, the Tobs were able to shut down the Salamander hitters at the plate, giving up just one run on four hits in the Tuesday night contest.
A good start from righty Thomas Santana, as well as strong relief appearances from a slew of Wilson relievers, combined to keep Holly Springs off the scoreboard for much of the affair.
Offensively, the Tobs managed to rack up the walks and hit by pitches early in the contest, before the bats woke up late, propelling Wilson to victory.
Catcher Chase Waddell crushed a 2-run home run in the fifth inning, as the Tobs combined for nine hits as a team in the 6-1 win on Tuesday night.
The win puts the Tobs at 10-4 on the season. Depending on results elsewhere in the CPL on Tuesday evening, the Tobs could find themselves atop the CPL’s East Division come the end of the night.
Join us back at Fleming Stadium for on Thursday, June 13 as the Tobs host the Morehead City Marlins for a 7:00 p.m. first pitch. Thursday night at the ballpark is “Thirsty Thursday,” as well as education appreciation and chamber night!
