Wilson, N.C. – The TaterHogs (13-10) falter at home, as the Macon Bacon (9-14) came into Historic Fleming Stadium and earned a 4-1 win.
In the third inning, Logan Luckett sent Charlie Bussey III home on a sacrifice hit for the only official TaterHogs run of the night.
Macon answered with three runs in the 4th, thanks to five hits and a walk.
The story of the game was in the 5th inning. Christian Michak, who entered the game for Thad Ector, lined a two-run single into left to tie the game at 3-3. Moments later, after a long conversation between each team’s head coach and the umpires; Michak was ruled out and the runs did not score.
After a lot of confusion, the answer came as a roster eligibility issue – and the TaterHogs did not record a hit the rest of the game.
Colin Murphy (1-3) took the loss for Wilson, allowing three runs in four innings. Jacob Dienes struck out seven in 2.2 innings of relief and allowed one run. Hunter Dyck and Ethan Wilford combined to keep the Bacon scoreless the rest of the way.
