Wilson takes weather shortened win for sixth straight

(Wilson, N.C.) – The Wilson Tobs took their sixth straight win over the Martinsville Mustangs 10-3 on Thursday night. The game was called after five innings due to a lightning storm.

Wilson surrendered an advantage first. In the top of the fourth, Ethan Whitley brought home a run with a sacrifice fly to give the Mustangs a lead. Immediately after, Alfonse Sadallah picked up his first Mustangs RBI with a double to left field.

Trailing 2-0, the Tobs tied the game with one swing courtesy of a two-run home run from Kevin Jordan. The long ball was his fourth of the season.  Chris Meyers doubled home a run and later scored on a fly out to give Wilson a 4-2 lead.

Allowing a run in the fifth, the Tobs responded in a big with. Wilson sent ten batters to the plate, getting RBI hits from Marquise Lanier, Meyers, De'Andre Pitts and Jared Carr. Wilson's lead grew to 10-3 before a lightening delay halted the contest heading to the top of the sixth inning at 9:10 PM. The game was called due to that lightning storm and a forthcoming rain storm. Chandler Coates (2-2) earned the victory while Evan Dix (1-1) took his first loss of the year. The Tobs have won six games in a row for the first time this year. The Mustangs have now lost seven straight for the first time as well.

Wilson is on the road for two, but return home on Sunday, July 21 to host the Morehead City Marlins. It's Bang for your Buck Sunday. Food specials include $1 hot dogs, $1 popcorn, $2 snowcones and $2 burgers with first pitch scheduled for 6:00 PM.
