(Wilson, N.C.) – The Wilson Tobs defeated the Peninsula Pilots 16-8 on Tuesday night. It was the most runs the Tobs have scored at home in the regular season as well as the most hits tallied in a single game.
For the sixth straight game, Wilson jumped on the board in the first. A four-run inning, keyed by Shamoy Christopher's sixth home run of the season, a three-run jack gave the Tobs the early advantage. The Tobs didn't let up, adding five in the second while batting around. Out of the inning, Wilson held a 9-0 lead.
The Pilots tagged Grant Fremion for three runs in the third inning. Nick Biddision sent his fifth homer of the year out to right. He finished the night with five runs batted in. Peninsula got two more in the fourth inning to inch to a 9-5 ballgame, but Wilson took off from there outscoring the Pilots 8-3 the rest of the way. Deshawn Lookout homered and finished with a pair of RBI. Christian Avant tallied three hits, scored four times and drove in two. Nick Rose had three hits and three RBI. Kevin Jordan tallied four hits for the first time this season and Jared Carr launched his first home run of the year 102 MPH off the bat.
The Tobs bullpen surrendered three runs over five innings but never gave up the lead. Wilson cruised to their twenty-first win of the season and have won five straight for the third time this year, their longest win streak. Steven Worley (2-0) was given the win after an inning of work. Cameron Oschenfeld (1-1) was roughed up in the first for the loss.
Wilson has Wednesday off but hosts the Martinsville Mustangs on Thursday, July 18. It's Thirsty Thursday and Military and Local Heroes Appreciation Night.
