(Wilson, N.C.) – The Wilson Tobs rallied back from an early deficit to defeat the Edenton Steamers and push their winning streak to five straight. For the first time this season, the Tobs were held to under double-digit runs.
Jack Eisenbarger started for the Steamers and did not disappoint. The left-hander tossed five innings and only allowed one unearned run on a throwing error in the fourth. Eisenbarger struck out seven batters and walked just one but has handed a no decision.
Edenton's first run came in the second inning on a solo home run from Ian Walters but were held at bay by Nate Fiala for five innings. Tied at one heading to the bottom of the seventh, Kevin Jordan walked to begin the inning, followed by an error to put runners on the corners. With Corrigan Bartlett running on the play, Jared Carr doubled into the right center field alleyway to break the tie, scoring two on the play. Later in the inning, Deshawn Lookout homered to put the finishing touches on a five-run rally.
Carr would pick up another pair of RBIs in the eighth to bring his game total to four, a season high. Wilson won the contest in comeback fashion by a final of 8-2. Taylor Soper (1-0) pitched one inning of shutout relief and earned the victory. Tyler Hopman (0-2) surrendered four runs, two earned and took the loss. Wilson is 3-0 in Coastal Plain League play and are undefeated overall (5-0).
