Wilson, NC- The Wilson Tobs fell at home on AYCE Tuesday to the Morehead City Marlins by a final score of 4-2. The slow start for the Tobs on offense would prove to be enough as Wilson could not catch up late.

Morehead City forced the Tobs to play from behind early scoring one run in the first and two in the fourth. The Tobs would not have a hit in the contest through the first five innings behind great pitching from Jared Koller. Koller finished with eight strikeouts and only issuing one walk.

In the sixth inning Sammy Sass would grab the Tobs base knock and would be driven in two batters later by Ethan Ott.
Matt Schark would provide some sparks for the offense in the seventh as he led off the inning with a no-doubter over the scoreboard to cut the lead down to one. Both teams would go scoreless in the eighth.

Morehead City would add the all-important insurance in the top of the ninth off a triple from Sean Johnson, McCaskey’s first earned run allowed this season. McCaskey finished with three innings pitched, one run, no walks and three strikeouts.

The Tobs would load the bases in the bottom of the ninth with one out. Schark reaching on a error, the first hit of the season from Blake Evans, and a seeing-eye single from McCaskey. Unfortunately for the home team, a pop out and strikeout would end the game and the Tobs could not complete the comeback. Marlins win 4-2 and take a 2-0 series lead of Wilson this season.

The Tobs will be on the road in Hampton, Virginia on Wednesday to face the Peninsula Pilots. Tobs hold a 2-1 series lead over their rivals and the away team has one every matchup so far this year. You can watch along at 7:00P.M. on flobaseball.tv
