Since our re-incarnation in 1997, the Wilson Tobs have proudly partnered with the City of Wilson to reinvigorate Fleming Stadium. Behind a brand which represents not only the community’s historical baseball legacy, but also its economic and cultural DNA, this partnership has united citizens and set the stage for Wilson’s sports and recreation explosion.
This synchronicity sowed the seeds for future CY Young Award winners, Team USA & Japan exhibition games, the NC Baseball Museum’s birth, two Fleming Stadium renovations, 17 Tobs MLB alumni, 140+ MLB Draft picks, millions of dollars in economic impact through the Tobs spring College Classics, the largest High School Fall League in eastern North Carolina, and our Independence Week Fireworks celebrations.
Tradition, roots and a track record of community success means something. It connects us with the past, it defines who we are and it inspires us to reach for who we can be. The Tobs are Wilson because the people of Wilson have made this franchise and emboldened its growth. Despite the 23 year absence from 1974 - 1996, the Tobs brand persevered because of our community’s shared Fleming Stadium experience.
Our leadership is aware that a ‘market’ change is on the horizon, but we are also cognizant of the responsibility we have to ensure these shared experiences continue. We are now more than ever committed to joining forces with the citizens of Wilson to bring joy to children, opportunity to teenagers, hope to young adults & create memories for families.
Join us this February as we welcome hundreds of baseball’s future stars in a calendar filled spring centered around opportunity, development and growth. Be there in May, when the Tobs & our tradition will provide thousands of Wilson citizens an electric summer of baseball. Last but surely not least, be sure to visit us in the fall as we cultivate baseball’s future harvest in our Fall League at Historic Fleming Stadium.
Remember, the Tobs will always be Wilson & Wilson will always be our HOME!
Tobs Roll!
