DENVER – With the 375th overall pick in the 13th round of the 2021 MLB Draft, the Detroit Tigers selected former Tob Chris Meyers (Toledo) on Tuesday afternoon.

In 2020, Meyers played in 18 games for the Tobs and hit .318. He collected 21 hits including three doubles and three homeruns while driving in 15 runs. Meyers finished the season tied for runs scored (20) with current Tob Dusty Baker (Mount Olive).

Meyers becomes the fifth overall Wilson Tob taken in the 2021 MLB Draft joining Trey Sweeney (Yankees – 1st Round), Jake Schrand (Marlins – 9th Round), Austin Vernon (Rays – 10th Round) and Mitch Myers (A’s – 12th Round).

The Wilson Tobs enter their 25th season as a founding member of the Coastal Plain League. The upcoming season for the Tobs will see community outreach, increased participation in helping the less fortunate, a Pettit Cup Championship team, and more exciting entertainment than ever before. We would like to dedicate each successful season to the Wilson Community, Coastal Plain League Organization, Host Families, Corporate Partners, and the Dedicated Fans.

The Wilson Tobs have played host to over 100 alumni taken in the draft and have produced a dozen players who have gone on to play in the MLB, including Cy Young MVP winner Justin Verlander. For more information on the Wilson Tobs, visit our website www.WilsonTobs.com.
