Overview
The Wilson Tobs are currently seeking enthusiastic candidates for the Fall, Spring, and Summer seasons who are ready to PUMP IT UP! The Wilson Tobs are an original member of the Coastal Plain League, a collegiate summer league, owned by Capitol Broadcasting (Durham Bulls), certified by Major League Baseball and the NCAA. The Tobs play at Historic Fleming Stadium, a Wilson landmark, that functions as a year-round event venue with events at the high school and collegiate level during all seasons.
The Tobs are looking for current undergraduate and graduate students in sport management, media, marketing or related fields, that are serious about a career in professional or amateur sports. If you are a viable candidate, you will get the opportunity to gain practical experience in multiple areas of team operations, including sales, marketing, promotions, event management, ticketing, merchandizing, public relations, and more. You will be working directly with General Manager, Mike Bell, who has 10+ years of experience with the program. In addition to working with an already experienced front office staff, you will have the chance to work indirectly with President Greg Suire, a veteran of 15+ seasons of Minor & Collegiate League Baseball management. You will be challenged with a variety of responsibilities designed not only to ensure the success of the Tobs, but also to impress hiring officials with organizations in the future. Individual Areas of Responsibilities
The following are the specific job duties and positions that are available:
Athletic Training Intern
Will work side by side with a registered orthopedic physician & athletic trainer. This position requires candidate to be available to work each Tobs home game and event. Must be able to learn, treat, track, and monitor 40 college baseball players and coaches. Specific athletic training certifications will be required.
Operations & Event Management Intern
Will set up and breakdown events, assist/manage game day staff, and ensure stadium operations run efficiently. Interns are also responsible for ballpark orders, inventory, and deliveries. This internship will require working outdoors and being able to lift heavy items. They will have a large role in all youth and promotional programs (ex: camps). This is a great opportunity to get a real understanding of how a sports facility operates and how events are run.
Promotions & Marketing Intern
Will be focused on in-game promotions and on-field entertainment, while assisting in projects that enhance the marketing of the Tobs. This intern will help with on-field entertainment, management of in-game atmosphere, PA announcements, customer service, and more. This position will oversee all player/mascot appearances and will supervise any community relations projects. This individual will be a face in the community and will help increase brand awareness.
Video Production & Color Commentator
Ideal candidate needs to be knowledgeable of website navigation, video design, and play-by-play broadcast. This individual will gain experience in interviewing players, coaches, sponsors, etc. to create fan based focused marketing engagement. They will also have the opportunity to be the color commentator on each Tobs home game broadcast. Media relation & video production department will be responsible for set up, video broadcast, social media, and recap of each Tobs home games/promotions.
Digital Media & Graphics
Ideal candidate needs to be knowledgeable of website navigation, graphic design and social media. Candidate will create unique graphics to help run the Tobs social media outlets/campaigns. They will also gain experience in interviewing players, coaches, sponsors, etc. to create fan based focused marketing engagement. Individual will also work closely with the marketing & community relations department to increase media exposure, brand awareness and community outreach. Media relation & video production department will be responsible for set up, video broadcast, social media, and recap of each Tobs home games/promotions.
