Wilson, N.C. – The Tobs take home the first victory in the 2025 CPL Playoffs over the Wilmington Sharks. Wilson will host game one of the best-of-three series against Peninsula on Tuesday August, 5th.
The Sharks scored the first three runs of the game in a busy first inning, but from that point forward it was all Tobs.
Charlie Bussey III gave Wilson its first lead of the ball game with a towering three-run homer which pushed the Tobs to a 5-3 lead. Thad Ector added some insurance with a near 400-foot two-run blast in the bottom of the 8th.
Ryan Harrahill earned the start on the mound and was backed up by a strong defense, led by shortstop Jose Sallorin. The Tobs turned three double plays, allowing Harrahill to go as deep into a ballgame as he has all season long.
The Tobs’s bullpen shut down the Sharks’ bats, keeping them scoreless. Casey O’Dell earned his ninth save of the season in two innings with four strikeouts.
Wilson starts the semifinals of the Petitt Cup Playoffs against the Peninsula Pilots on Tuesday night at Historic Fleming Stadium. First pitch will be 7:00 p.m.
